While I was at U-Lab, we had the idea of creating a documentary about the new generation of Cuban musicians. We wanted to learn what was happening in this magic musical place, 20 years after the famous Buena Vista Social Club documentary. I went to Cuba with my friend and director Juan Ponce de León, and we got to register this unique and historic material. Special thanks to my friend and monster musician, Sir Alain Pérez, and to all the featured artists. The documentary got selected in the Madrid International Film Festival and Santa Barbara Film Festival, California, among others. I treasure this project very, very, very deep in my heart.
